299 students are receiving certificates, 224 diplomas and 251 bachelor’s degrees.

The School of Nursing accounts for the largest number of graduates, with 260 students. Of these, 190 are completing the Certificate in Healthcare Assistance, making it the single largest graduating programme, while another 70 are graduating with Certificates in Dental Surgery Assisting.

The School of Allied Health follows with 235 graduates spread across five programmes. These include 82 students graduating with Diplomas in Pharmacy, 61 in Emergency Care Technology, 39 with Certificates in Emergency Medical Care, 32 in Clinical Technology and 21 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Emergency Medical Care.

The School of Public Health is producing 146 graduates. The Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety programme accounts for 90 graduates, while 47 are completing Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Promotion and Education. A further nine students are graduating with diplomas in Health Promotion and Education.

Another 120 graduates come from the School of Leadership and Management. The largest group comprises 80 students completing Bachelor of Arts degrees in Healthcare Service Management, followed by 27 Diploma in Medical Records and Transcription graduates and 13 Diploma in Healthcare Management graduates.

The School of Rehabilitation Sciences has 13 graduates completing Bachelor of Arts degrees in Counselling.

This year’s graduation comes 13 years after Boitekanelo College held its first graduation ceremony in 2013.

Founded in 2007 by Dr Tiro Mampane, the institution initially operated as Boitekanelo Training Institute, offering a single programme in Healthcare Assistance at a time when Botswana was grappling with the HIV/AIDS epidemic and needed more healthcare support personnel.

Over the years, the college has expanded its academic offerings from certificates to diplomas, undergraduate degrees and postgraduate studies.

The Class of 2026 therefore represents another chapter in the institution’s 19-year history, reflecting its growth from a specialised healthcare training institution into a college offering qualifications across several professional disciplines.
