Hon. Alex Kilowua, Keynote Speaker and County Executive Committee Member for Medical Services and Public Health in Kajiado County, Kenya, has urged Boitekanelo College’s graduating Class of 2026 to embrace innovation, resilience and patient-centred care as they enter a rapidly changing healthcare sector.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony under the theme, “Future-Ready Healthcare Professionals: Leading Innovation, Building Resilience and Transforming Lives”, Kilowua challenged graduates to look beyond their qualifications and identify practical solutions to healthcare challenges.
“Future-ready healthcare professionals do not simply adjust to change. They help shape it,” he said, noting that technology, artificial intelligence and data are transforming diagnosis, treatment and healthcare delivery. He stressed that innovation must improve access, quality, safety and patient experience, rather than become an end in itself.
Kilowua also highlighted the importance of resilience amid workforce shortages, resource constraints and inequalities in healthcare access. He urged graduates to serve competently, lead courageously and manage resources responsibly, while treating every patient with dignity. “Healthcare was better because you were there,” he said, encouraging them to build meaningful careers that positively transform lives.
