The Gambling Authority has donated six tablets, each with a 12 month internet subscription, to Kalamare Junior Secondary School following a plea for support from the school’s head, Phuthego. Board Chairperson Plato Gaoboi announced the donation during the school’s 2026 prize-giving ceremony.

Responding to the request, Gaoboi said education remains central to shaping young people’s futures and urged learners to take their studies seriously. “Education is the key to success,” he said, encouraging students to remain focused on their studies and future aspirations.

Gaoboi described the learners as “trailblazers” and “visionaries”, urging them to set positive examples for their peers. “Your behaviour sets an important example for your peers,” he said, calling on students to engage with courage and integrity.

He also called for greater involvement from parents, educators and communities in addressing challenges affecting learners.Gaoboi said stakeholders must “support each other” and work collectively to improve student engagement, retention and educational outcomes. The six tablets come with 12 month internet subscriptions, giving learners additional access to digital learning materials. Gaoboi urged the students to make productive use of the resources, saying: “Leverage what you learn here, and share it with others.”
